About

My Story

Getting out of the military can be just as dangerous as getting deployed.  As an airborne infantry platoon leader along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, I was involved in several protracted firefights, often against enemy forces that outnumbered our own.  Thanks to the grace of God and a platoon of some of the toughest men in the US Army, every one of us came home with his life.  In the decade since, three of them have taken their lives, many have gotten divorced, others have struggled financially, and some suffer in silence broken only rarely with a private email or a brief phone call.  Fighting a battle with the enemy in front of us was easy, fighting a battle with the demons in our minds was much more difficult, and I felt like I needed to do something for my brothers.  One day, after counseling a former soldier on how to write his resume, I started typing on the computer so that I would be able to give tips easier in the future and maybe even share it on Facebook.  The next thing I knew, the words were pouring onto the paper and I was giving lessons learned on all the challenges of facing the civilian world.  For several weeks, I was glued to the computer, exposing some of my darkest times and challenges; something a man like myself is generally opposed to do.  What started as a single post on writing a resume, turned into a book, a website, and a Facebook page.

The Impact

I've always said that CONUS Battle Drills was not about the money.  I am pursuing this project to help my brothers through their transition.  We train our men and women to go to war, but no one trains them to come home.  It is therefore that I have decided to donate every dollar made from this project to Operation Underground Railroad.

By purchasing a book, you will gain some insight on how to have a successful transition into civilian life.  If you are not a veteran but are married to one, or maybe you employ one, this book will help you understand the challenges they face every day.

The best part of this purchase will be that even though you are getting a great product, you can rest on the knowledge that the money is going to a great cause.  The men of OUR Rescue are true warrior angels, heading into the deepest darkest most sinful places where many of us aren't even capable of imagining, and bringing a powerful light rescuing innocents from those despicable predators.

This morning, as I lay in bed, I held my three little children.  I could barely see with all their bodies piled on top of me listening to their even breaths as we watched a show in bed.  They felt no hunger or fear.  They didn't worry about who would come through that door.  There were no monsters coming for them.  That is how every child should feel.

Instead of the children, it is the monsters who should feel fear.  The warriors of Operation Underground Railroad are the ones to do it, and I am proud to be a small part of that.

Great project. Carry on soldier. I'm a Navy vet from the 70s and I admire what you're doing

I hope this goes viral. My hometown of Sacramento has this problem severely. It's really sad.
