We're a small group of students out the University of Houston called SPARK (Students Performing Acts of Random Kindness) Club. We have hosted many community outreach programs ranging from holiday toy drives to feeding the homeless. This time we want to take on a much bigger problem: Human Trafficking.
We recently discovered that one of our classmates was actually a victim of human trafficking. Fortunately she is safe and doing very well now, but the stories that she shared with us were horrific. It kills us to know that there are still children out there suffering the same fate, or even worse, than she did. There are an estimated 20.9 million victims of human trafficking, about 55% of which are women and girls. We decided to team up with O.U.R (Operation Underground Railroad) to do what we can and help rescue children from these tragic situations.
We've always gotten amazing support from the CF community, and this time we're coming to you guys again to help us put on our biggest event yet: a community-wide workout to raise awareness and collect donations. We're reaching out to gyms all around Houston to host our WOD on Wednesday May 24th! So make sure to stop by your gym that Wednesday, crush that WOD, tweet/post #H.O.U.R #StopHumanTrafficking, and donate to our cause! Thank you so much for your support, and please feel free to contact us for any questions/concerns!
