The Virginia Commonwealth University Outdoor Adventure Program has been around for 35 years providing students with opportunities to experience the world of outdoor recreation. Additionally, we encourage environmental stewardship and engagement with the community.
While discussing ways to add more outreach to our program, we realized we wanted to host a climbathon that would expand our community by supporting a global cause.
Our No Slack Climbathon is important because it is an opportunity to raise community awareness about the global problem of child trafficking. This event is a chance for those with power to use their influence to truly change the path of a child's life. By participating in our Climbathon or donating to our cause, you are joining a community of people dedicated to defending the basic rights of children around the globe.
Without this event, more than just the loss of a fundraising opportunity, fewer people will be aware of the ever-present call to action to prevent children from being trafficked.
By hosting a Climbathon, we are challenging participants to push themselves physically and test their endurance in order to reflect the long-term effort required for an OUR mission to be successful.
